Jason Deem | Director of Bands
Jason Deem is the Director of Bands for Union City High School for the Union City School system. He has enjoyed teaching in Union City Schools since 2006. Mr. Deem is responsible for guiding the extensive staff involved in the instrumental music program for the district. Jason is the the process of building a top notch staff who honor the heritage and continue the vigorous pursuit of excellence that is synonymous with all Union City Band programs. Mr. Deem has been integral to the pedagogical development that has led to a world-class learning environment for students in all facets of the program. Throughout his career, his ensembles have consistently received awards for excellence on the concert stage and marching field.
Mr. Deem earned his Bachelor of Music Education and Masters Degree in Education with emphasis in Educational Administration and Supervision from the University of Tennessee at Martin. Jason Deem is a clinician and adjudicator for bands throughout the Southeast United States. Mr. Deem is Past President of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, President-Elect of the West Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association, and member of the Tennessee Bandmasters Association
A native of Rutherford, Tennessee, Mr. Deem marched with the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps for the 1998 and 1999 seasons. Before his tenure at Union City, Mr. Deem began his teaching career at Lexington High School in Lexington, Tennessee and was later the Director of Bands at Gibson County High School in Dyer, Tennessee, where his bands received numerous awards including the Tennessee Governor's Cup. Mr. Deem resides in Union City and is the worship leader of Community Bible Church in Union City, TN. He is married to his wife Amber, and has four daughters: Makinlee, Madeline, Kadence, and Marley.
Joe Davis | Associate Director of Bands
Joe Davis is the Associate Director of Bands in the Union City School System. Mr. Davis is responsible for all Union City Middle School Bands.
Originally from Humboldt, Tennessee, Mr. Davis graduated from Gibson County High School, and later earned his Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin in 2011. Mr. Davis served as Vice President and Fraternal Education Officer of the Sigma Psi Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. He is a member of the West Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association, Tennessee Music Education Association, as well as the Tennessee Bandmasters Association.
Before arriving at Union City Schools in 2020, Mr. Davis began his teaching career at Lake County Schools, then Huntingdon Special Schools. He is a 2011 graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin where he was a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
Although Mr. Davis began his professional teaching career in 2012, he has worked with many reputable programs throughout West Tennessee since 2008 including the Union City High School Band. His previous appointment was the Band Director at Huntingdon Special Schools. While at Huntingdon, his student consistently received many superior ratings at contests and festivals, as well as having high representation in the All-West Honor Bands.
Mr. Davis resides in Union City with his wife Alex, his two sons, Nolan and Hayes, and golden retriever, Duke.
Braylee Edgar | Color Guard Director
Braylee Edgar is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin with a Bachelor's Degree in Pre-K - 3rd education. She is currently a 1st Grade teacher at Union City Elementary School. Braylee is the Color Guard Director and Choreographer. Her guards have earned awards in Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas, Indiana, and Missouri.
The Edgars are members of Second Baptist Church n Union City. Braylee is married to her husband RJ, and they have one daughter, Ava.
